Most of you already know what a remarkable place the Lilypad is. A resource where creative musicians of all types play, with a good piano and a clear sound in the room. And when the Lilypad hosts 30 people, it seems quite full. But no matter the number, the experience of the music always so intimate and direct from both the stage and the seats. We feel you up there on the stand with us.

This week our band, “Heart of Hearing,” finished recording a new album. The energy of making a record – brings the music to a new place. And now as we play there is an even greater mutual appreciation for the variety and creative input of each player – after having already boiled these songs down to their essence.Lili Shires – vocalRick DiMuzio – tenor saxMax Ridley – bassCharlie Weller – drums -

Dan Blake - Bert Seager duo
8:00 pmNew School of Music - Cambridge MA
At the end of the month I am recording another new album with my old friend, NY saxophonist Daniel Blake - whom I met when he was going to NEC and Tufts 20 years ago. Our plan is to record a duo album of ballads together and we have chosen our tunes from the great American songbook. We will play a one hour concert at the New School in Cambridge, at 8:00 PM, Saturday June 24 - This wonderful neighborhood music school is on 25 Lowell Street.(near Mount Auburn Hospital) http://newschoolofmusic.org/ Dan is an intelligent, creative, soulful, and highly imaginative musician with an original sound - and it is an enormous honor to have him want to record with me. I hope that you will consider joining us.Then the following day we will record the concert again without an audience - so that we have two possible takes to choose from for the album. -

Jazz Quartet @ Short and Main
7:30 PMhttp://shortandmain.com/
36 Main Street Gloucester
Upstairs in their listening room
with Rick DiMuzio (sax) – Ehud Ettun (bass) – Charlie Weller (drums) – and me (electric piano.)We will play upstairs at the wonderful restaurant Short and Main. At the corner of Short and Main Street. You can call for reservations (978) 281-0044. Please know that most likely no one will answer the phone until 5:00 pm.We will start playing closer to 7:30 – so that we can have time for dinner and conversation. However you are welcome to just come for the music. Also Helen Weatherall will read a few poems while we play. There is bar. And it is a good sounding room. The staff and owner have been so welcoming – and I am sure that you will enjoy the scene and music – and that you will know (or recognize) almost everyone there. This way of sharing music means so much to me. There is no cover charge – but we do have permission to pass a hat so that we can pay the band – who all come up from Boston. -
