Dear friends,
In reflecting on the need to open to the vast suffering in this world right now,
I sense and am grateful for the heart’s natural response, the arising of compassion.
and simultaneously, the knowledge that I cannot take for granted my extreme good fortune ….
Of course there are profoundly troubling things –
harsh injustice and deeply broken systems
illness, loss, and grief
But I want to land where I am, trusting the power of friendship and listening to bring us together.
How the sharing of joy offers meaning to me, I feel its tangible support and how this love lets me open to more and more of life.

This week at Spice Thai Kitchen I will be playing piano trio jazz with my friends
Sean Farias on upright bass and Dor Herskovits on drums.
Trio playing can offer a bit of open space – not always needing as much arranging
or volume as quartet playing sometimes does. And the joy of the three way conversation holds
a kind of balance that both depends on and supports reflective listening as we play – and hopefully as you listen along with us.
