It seems that people from all over the globe had shared a fervent hope that the US would turn the page on a man who hated and divided. So many of us thought that a more inclusive, wider perspective would be clearly seen as the better way forward. So now what?  Sadly, things could get much worse for many vulnerable people and for the natural systems that support life. And so questions arise,  What should we do?  How might we each do our part?

An essential piece is caring for ourselves. One thing I find quite helpful is to trust my ability to open to and be with all of life; the good and the bad as it is, as I am experiencing it in the present moment.

I am suggesting a response; a willingness to just pause.  A breath!  A deliberate stopping of a train of thought, both these things are a natural supports for calming and relaxing. In introducing simplicity I can see how much of my unhappiness comes from wanting things to be different than the way that they are.  And then, when I can remember to rest inwardly and just be with things as they are in the present moment, I have access to kindness, greater understanding, and the inner wisdom of letting go – a wholesome orientation that points towards peace. And in this way I can better know my place and role in the world.
